Course Description
The course covers the basic concepts in materials microstructures in different length scales, such as atomic structures, bond structure and crystalline structures. It includes in detail Bravais lattice, Wigner-Seitz primitive cell, the reciprocal lattices, the theory of diffraction analysis, and the defects in atomic arrangement such as point, line, plane defects. On completion of this unit, students should be well equipped with necessary tools and skills for further study in broad materials.
